CIS 579 Term Project
Summer 2019

There will be no final exam in this course. Instead you will be required to select a project that involves design of an intelligent system or conducting an experiment involving the use of AI tools. You will be required to make an oral presentation of your project to the class. Project presentations will be scheduled on or after the last day of class.

You may present with a partner on a topic that is sufficiently large enough to warrant two people working together. However, both people must contribute equally to the oral presentation and each partner will be graded separately. You are to submit your project idea (in written form) for my approval no later than Jun 3rd. For your project you may choose from among the following options:

  1. Complete a software development project utilizing any tools you wish accompanied by 10-page report discussing the system design, AI concepts utilized, and lessons learned.
  2. Conduct experiments on involving the use of existing AI tools or techniques and write a 10-page report describing experiment, experimental results, and lessons learned.
  3. Devise a comparable project of your own and have it approved by me.

Live oral project presentations (10 to 15 minutes) will take place on Mon, 6/24/19 from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. You are expected to make appropriate use of AV materials (demonstration, power point slides, transparencies, posters, handouts, etc.) during your presentation. Commented source listings of any software products developed are to be turned in as well. Your presentation outline and project deliverables are due on or before 6/24/19. Distance learning students may submit a powerpoint  with audio  (skype, web meeting, etc.) or video (.mp4, .mov, you tube) equivalent in place of a live presentation.
