Award for our Student Branch

Our student Branch just won first place in the Regional Student Branch Website Contest. We'll be receiving a certificate for our student branch and our web designer and a $500 cash prize. We are now also automatically entered in the international student brance Website Contest.

Award for Dearborn IEEE! The Dearborn Chapter of IEEE won the award for the Most Outstanding Student Branch! We'll be getting the award at the next student conference.

Anyways, some *new* updates: New SPAC Page. Check out the details of our SPAC event being put together by our SPAC Committee.

UMD Student Branch Award
Our IEEE Student Branch just received an award from the Southeastern Michigan Section at the SEM section Conference November 10, 2004!! We won an award for the most outstanding student branch contribution to the success of Fall 2004 Section conference. The plaque we received is in the Display case outside the ECE office if you wanna take a peek.

Meeting with ABET Committee
November 8, 2004 : 4:00 pm - ECE Department office
As you all know, UMD needs to get re-accreditted by the ABET committee. The ABET Commiitee will be visiting next week and the department wants IEEE students to come talk with the ABET committee. However, you only have to be CE or dual ECE to attend. This is a really important event so please attend!

    Recently, our IEEE chair, Aisha Yousuf, won the "Most Active Conference Participant" Award at the Region 4 Leadership Conference. This conference was held at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana on October 16-18, 2004. She also won third place in the Region 4 Student paper contest and Great Lakes Biomedical Conference which was held on June 2, 2004 in Milwakee, Wisconsin.

    Also, we have a new vice chair, Dennis Breton.

    Other News:
    Those who have ordered an IEEE t-shirt and have not yet picked them up should do so soon. Also, the next general IEEE meeting and Movie Night will be on October 26, 6-9pm in room 179 ELB. For the X-com members, there is an X-com meeting today at 2:30pm in the IEEE office.

    For those excited about the Penny Wars, the event will be held throughout October 25-29, 2004! If you want to join in on the fun drop by 206 ELB and leave your pennies for your favorite teachers!! Or you can even leave bills for those who aren't your favorite teachers.

    Our first general meeting will be held on Thursday, September 30 at 2:00 pm! We will be discussing our upcoming events and having several professors from the ECE department speak on why it is essential for students to join IEEE. Also, there will be free pizza at this meeting.

    IEEE T-shirts are printed and ready for pickup. Please e- mail IEEE for your convenient time and location. Again the T-shirts are $5, and you can pay by either cash or check payable to IEEE UMD.

    IEEE T-shirt design is finalized and the t-shirts are supposed to go for printing soon. The cost for the members is $5. If you'd like to order a t-Shirt, please e-mail us ASAP so we can printout the sizes of your choice; otherwise you'll be left with leftover sizes.

    The University of Michigan - Dearborn will be entering the Website Design Contest. The judging period is April 1-15, 2004. We might not be able to update the page during that time, but all the members will be receiving regular e-mail updates from us. Also we'll be releasing UM-D IEEE T-shirts soon.

    The IEEE Section Conference is coming up on March 24, 2004 at 5:00-9:00pm.

    Also, the member page has been updated, but not all of the names are up yet. We're working on getting them up pretty soon. Anyways, we are still having problems with our join page. So, if you're interested in joining, please e-mail the president.

    And the Army Tour Research Center is going to be on March 26, 2004 at 1:00-3:00pm in Warren Michigan. Only US Citizens are going to be able to get the Army Center. If you're interested in going please email the president. Also, there is only a limited number of people who can come.

    Welcome to the new page of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE) at the University of Michigan - Dearborn. Hope everyone enjoys the new layout. The links to various pages like join and members, etc. are not, at the moment, finished. But, we plan on getting the information posted up and the join form working soon. So, in the meantime, you can find out what's happening in IEEE by looking at the Events link and visit various school links by clicking on the link button.

    Also, our first meeting of this semester will be on Monday, February 16th at 6-8:30pm in room 198 ELB. Hope to see everyone there!
